Full Spectrum Defense – Use of Force Training
Full Spectrum Defense’s Use of Force course provides practical, scenario-based training for security professionals, bylaw officers and personnel who may encounter challenging or aggressive behavior in the workplace. Combining situational awareness, verbal de-escalation and hands-on defensive skills, the course helps participants assess threats, make informed decisions and respond with an emphasis on personal safety, subject safety and professional responsibility.
Training follows FSD’s E.A.A.R.D.S™ framework—Environment, Access, Act, Reassess, Distance and Safety. Participants develop skills in recognizing warning signs, managing distance, maintaining effective body positioning and communicating under pressure. Physical training includes defensive movement, protective responses, space creation, breakfalls and ground escapes, with control techniques, team escorts and third-party protection tailored to participants’ roles and authorized duties. Weapon-threat awareness and defensive options are addressed according to the training level and operational needs of the group.
Realistic scenarios bring these skills together through situations involving aggressive individuals, confined spaces, crowds, changing levels of resistance and people experiencing mental health distress. Supervised exercises, including the Spartan Training Suit where appropriate, allow participants to practice their responses and receive direct instructor feedback.
Throughout the course, FSD emphasizes ongoing reassessment, appropriate and justifiable use of force, liability awareness, disengagement and recognizing when additional assistance is needed. The goal is to build sound judgment, practical skills and confidence to manage difficult encounters while prioritizing the safety of everyone involved.
Registration for this event includes both days from 0900 – 1600 hrs. total training hours 18.
